DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
Re: DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
Feature request for portability: https://github.com/hsoft/dupeguru/issues/336
Re: DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
For an application of this type, does it matter that it writes its settings to AppData? Typical one would load up some directories and change settings on-the-fly. There really is no need to store settings at all (at least, in my opinion).
Re: DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
If the settings are incidental or unimportant, that’s fine but DupeGuru is fairly intelligent (and getting smarter). There’s a mutual relationship that - as tools get more intelligent and more configurable - they also get more annoying to go back in and change the settings to what you like.shnbwmn wrote:does it matter that it writes its settings to AppData?
Anyway I think there's enough settings to modify here that it's important:

... especially if you start digging into custom commands and regular expressions.

Fair enough.

Re: DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
It's definitely worth asking. Duplicate-finder programs are generally pretty straightforward so I can see it getting past the usual hesitation.shnbwmn wrote:Fair enough.
Re: DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
The program is now 64-bit only. New website (and maintainer): https://dupeguru.voltaicideas.net/ ... currently at 4.0.3.
No response so far to the portability request: https://github.com/hsoft/dupeguru/issues/336 , though that could be due to a new maintainer.
Very warm review of the program: https://lifehacker.com/the-best-duplica ... 1696492476

Re: DupeGuru - cross-platform duplicate file finder
This program, now at v4.3.1, has had portable Windows versions (both 32- and 64-bit) since v4.2.2. The zips are downloadable from the Releases page at https://github.com/arsenetar/dupeguru/releases.
