Portable Waveshop current condition

#1 Post by fossiscool »

Hello,

From what I understand so far going through the WineOS database and looking around Sourceforge and the official Waveshop website, Waveshop was, at some point, able to work on WineOS, which means it would theoretically work on Linux based systems.

However, the entry was from 2013, which is considerably outdated, and Waveshop doesn't seem to be in active development at all, much less actively maintained.

My three main questions are:
Q1: Is Waveshop truly discontinued and therefore not being updated anymore?
Q2: Does Waveshop still work on the current version of WineOS?
Q3: Are there any other programs like Waveshop that are portable, free, opensource and stealthy (adds nothing to registry and or %appdata%)?

Additionally (I'm sure if it's relevant to this topic but hopefully it is in the same line of thought), if the answer to the third question is negative, is there a way to make one of the audio editors already in the database not write an %appdata% folder possibly via a config file?

Thank you to anyone that provides their input to this conversation.

A1: to me it appears to be discontinued.
A2: I don't have access to a machine with Wine installed to test.
A3: Alternatives https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?sc=66&so=p

Q: although it hasn't been updated in years, did you find a bug or a missing feature in Waveshop?

A: I don't think so? So far with my (very limited) testing, I haven't found any problems with it other than maybe the somewhat awkward way you would have to speed up/slow down tracks via the track's sampling rate, but other than that, no complaints from me
