cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
[2024-09-26-Mod note: subject edited, original was "cdrtfe 1.2.5"]
Yes, this is correct. 1.2.5 is newer than 1.3pre1.
New and improved:
* Data CD, continue multisession CDs:
- Show content of previous sessions in the file/folder view
- Import is possible if the options 'multisession' and 'continue
CD' are selected and the project is empty.
- Warnings that files and folders from previous sessions cannot
be moved or renamed.
- Possibility to 'delete' files or folders from an existing session
- Limitations:
o Empty folders from previous sessions cannot be removed
* keyboard shortcuts:
Alt-O: Add files (Data-, Audio-, X-, Video-CD)
Alt-I: Add folders (Data-, XCD)
Alt-V: Add files as Form2 files (XCD);
Alt-Entf: Delete All (Data-, XCD)
Alt-Up: Move track up (Audio-, Video-CD)
Alt-Down: Move track down (Audio-, Video-CD)
* new commandline options /img und /dvd
* Bugfixes

As the site reports it as "for testing purposes", I guess that Andrew considers it as a beta. Usually (in the most of the cases, but not always) it is better to update TPFC only with stable releases.
Anyway, it is very good to communicate even the beta releases (in this forum) because many users want to try out even certain betas they are interested in.
Thanks!

Re: cdrtfe 1.2.5
Update of a very old topic.
The current version of cdrtfe portable is 1.5.9.1 released on September 13, 2024
• Sourceforge.net for cdrtfe Files: https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrtfe ... 0portable/
• direct download portable: https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrtfe ... e/download
However on the official site the program has not been updated:
• cdrtfe website: https://cdrtfe.sourceforge.io/cdrtfe/index_en.html
Here i the link for an unofficial portable (PAF) version of cdrtfe portable 1.5.9.1
• MediaFire: https://www.mediafire.com/file/hvx62bam ... f.exe/file
To moderator @Midas:
please rename the title of this topic to "cdrtfe Portable" or another title without the number '1.2.5' (a very old build).
Thanks

Any insight into its portability BTW?
Available cdrtfe changelog -- up to v1.5.9, released 2021-10-21 -- is at https://cdrtfe.sourceforge.io/cdrtfe/changes_en.html.
Re: cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
I looked everywhere: Sourceforge.net and in the installed PAF, but I didn't find any changelog for rel. 1.5.9.1 Portable.Midas wrote: ↑Thu Sep 26, 2024 4:10 am Available cdrtfe changelog -- up to v1.5.9, released 2021-10-21 -- is at https://cdrtfe.sourceforge.io/cdrtfe/changes_en.html.
Anyway I think this is a maintenance release (bug-fix release).
I thought that the translation for the Italian language had been inserted (see below), but it is NOT included in build 1.5.9.1 Portable.
Therefore You are encouraged to download the Italian translation and update it in the 'C:\PortableApps\cdrtfePortable\App\cdrtfe\translations\italian\cdrtfe_lang.ini'Updated italian translation https://sourceforge.net/p/cdrtfe/discus ... 20ee9290e/ by Bovirus (thanks).

iI other words they took the contents of their Installer and packaged it into a self-extracting archive (.exe). Therefore, for portability, the problems created by the original Installer remained.Notes:
------
This is the portable release of cdrtfe 1.5.9. Basically, it is identical to the standard release with the following exceptions:
* cdrtfe-1.5.9portable.exe is a self-extracting archive. No other program needed to extract the files.
* An ini file is included which switches cdrtfe into portable mode.
* The source files are not included. To obtain the source code download the file cdrtfe-1.5.9src.rar from the package cdrtfe.
The source code of the tools and libraries included in this archive can be found in the tools package.
So I have browsed the file 'cdrtfePortable.ini' found in 'C:\PortableApps\cdrtfePortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher' and @JohnTHaller has insert in its .ini these instructions:
this means that the 'Portable' cdrtfe write on registry 2 (two) entries, now removed in PAF Portable.[RegistryKeys]
-=HKLM\Software\Cygnus Solutions
-=HKCU\Software\Cygnus Solutions
and
This means that the file 'cdrtfe.ini' has moved from %AppData% to 'C:\PortableApps\cdrtfePortable\App\DefaultData\settings'[FilesMove]
settings\cdrtfe.ini=%PAL:AppDir%\cdrtfe
B.T.W.
the author of this program is Udo Kifferbrehl and it has created a (very old) repository on GitHub with name 'cdrtfe' https://github.com/UdoKifferbrehl/cdrtfe
Here is the file 'cdrtfePortable.ini'

Re: cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
Thanks, rbon.
Re: cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
You are welcome.
I have decided to update the PAF installer cdrtfePortable_1.5.9.1.paf.exe with the new Italian translation:
- the previous translation of 12-02-2017 was for cdrtfe v1.5.5
- the new translation of 16-09-2024 is for cdrtfe v1.5.9 (this translation has been performed by Bovirus)
You can find new build cdrtfePortable_1.5.9.1_Rev2.paf.exe at:
--> MediaFire https://www.mediafire.com/file/or6r0ym0 ... f.exe/file

Re: cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
I opted not to do 1.5.9.1 yet since there is no indication of anything changing. No new source code. No new release notes. And it's not even linked from their website download page. It just showed up on SourceForge. So, it could be an unofficial release. Or someone could have gained access to the project.

I agree with JohnTHaller that a (very) serious site like PortableApps must be cautious about portabilizing new programs or their updates.JohnTHaller wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 7:51 am I opted not to do 1.5.9.1 yet since there is no indication of anything changing. However..
It is true that the website /https://cdrtfe.sourceforge.io/cdrtfe/index_en.html) has not been updated with the details of the new version 1.5.9.1.
But..
1. Source code is available on Sourceforge.net https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrtfe/
--> go to Files
--> go to cdrtfe 1.5.9 subfolder https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrtfe ... e%201.5.9/) -> this subfolder contains Installer versions (not Portable) and source code for this version (v1.5.9 and v1.5.9.1)
--> download the file cdrtfe-1.5.9.1src.rar https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrtfe ... r/download
2. Source code updated (snapshot)
--> Git --> Git cdrtfe --> tag v1.5.9.1 --> Download Snapshot (upper right of 'Tree [a94cf3] master v.1.5.9.1 /' -> press Download Snapshot
--> [but this Snapshot do not contains yet the updated translation of italian language (performed by Bovirus)]
3. changelog for rel. 1.5.9.1 is available on https://sourceforge.net/p/cdrtfe/cdrtfe/ci/master/tree/ --> Tree [a94cf3] master v.1.5.9.1 /
4. changelog for rel. 1.5.9.1: important issues solved
--> see #82 cdrtfe 1.5.8 : DVD writer not detected, different libscg versions between portable distributions https://sourceforge.net/p/cdrtfe/bugs/82/ -> very interesting
--> see #83 Application crashes after adding mp3 file to audio tracks https://sourceforge.net/p/cdrtfe/bugs/83/
About #83 bug (see above) please read this answer by Oliver Valencia (the author):

Errors when reading the ID3V2 tags of this mp3 files caused the crash. cdrtfe 1.5.9.1 now catches the exception and won't crash.
The bug #82 (see above) regards the missed recognition of DVD with Windows 8.Oliver Valencia - 2021-03-24
Hello,
the libscg is part of the cdrtools, in case of cdrtfe it is compiled into each of the included cdrtools executables.
cdrtfe uses two sets of cdrtools binaries. Those with the original (unmodified) libscg and those with a slightly modified libscg (version: cdrtfe-0.9a). The original version is included in all cdrtfe versions (zip, exe installer, msi installer, portable), while the modified libscg is included in two versions (exe installer, portable).
The modified libscg is an atempt to work around some changes introduced with Windows 8 that can break the device detection under certain circumstances.
The portable version of cdrtfe from PortableApps does not include the modified libscg. Therefore you should use the portable version from the cdrtfe project (https://sourceforge.net/projects/cdrtfe ... 0portable/)
In order to use the modified libscg (version: cdrtfe-0.9a) make sure to check the option "Use patched cdrtools" when extracting cdrtfe portable.
Regards
Oliver
I haven't found the dialog box "Use patched cdrtools" that enable modified libscg (version: cdrtfe-0.9a).

Re: cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
I hadn't seen the source code before. Or maybe it wasn't there when I first checked. I DIFFed it and it should be good. Minor stuff. I updated the PortableApps.com Format package.

Re: cdrtfe [optical disk recorder]
Hi JohnThaller,
thank You for Your build of cdrtfe Portable 1.5.9.1
Unfortunately your build does NOT have the updated italian language file which you can find in:
--> this page https://sourceforge.net/p/cdrtfe/discus ... 20ee9290e/
--> direct download zip with Bovirus trnslation https://sourceforge.net/p/cdrtfe/discus ... .41.44.zip
This happened because when the author compiled ver. 1.5.9.1 he didn't view Bovirus's post (with the updated language file).
I have added to this post the file 'cdrtfe - italian language - 2024.09.16 - 09.41.44.zip' with italian translation updated.
Thanks in advance.

Mod note: moving topic to "Submission" considering the existing PAF version of cdrtfe.
