I'd like to profit from this chance to greet and welcome our AI overlords.

influx, I'd like to apologize for thinking your post was helped with AI. I've seen a lot of weird posts by new members lately so when I saw your low post count and a wall of text, I got a little suspicious.

After reading your post more thoroughly I see that there is a lot of specificity about portable apps. To answer your original question, I guess a lot more users nowadays are using just one PC so the need for portability just isn't there anymore. Also this generation generally tends to use their mobile device so mobile apps displace PC programs. About Linux, I've dabbled with Manjaro and Arch for a bit but I haven't fully moved over yet. I'm just used to a bunch of Windows apps. Sure there is Wine and that helps to some extent, but I also like dragging and dropping files and my GUI apps :)

Looking towards the future, most forums (if they will even exist by then!) will be all bots talking to one another!
is it stealth? ;)

I'll play devil's advocate here: I'm not fully convinced yet -- so what's your game, my dear influx?

Judging from recent experience, that'll turn unintelligible really fast...

That article mentions that Google's AI learned Bengali on its own with very little training... how's that related to turning "unintelligible" :?:

Sorry, wrong link... and the story I wanted to reference turned out to be false, too -- scratch that as a double non-sequitur for yours truly...
