Nuclear (Electron music streaming client)

#1 Post by Midas »

Nuclear looked interesting, particularly because it advertises native portability (untested! Being Electron-based, my expectations aren't high, though)...
Stream from any free source on the internet. Nuclear supports Youtube, Soundcloud, Bandcamp, and your local library. A flexible plugin system allows for easy addition of more.
Nuclear is a free music streaming program that pulls content from free sources all over the internet. If you know mps-youtube, this is a similar music player but with a GUI. It's also focusing more on audio. Imagine Spotify which you don't have to pay for and with a bigger library.

Also intriguing is Nuclear's FAQ entry regarding Electron:
What if I am religiously opposed to using Electron?

Then you are not the target audience of this program. See mps-youtube for a similar program that will not taint your machine with a library you happen to dislike...

Nuclear is currently v0.6.30 released 2023-08-09 (changes and downloads at https://github.com/nukeop/nuclear/releases).
Windows:
nuclear.Setup.<version>.exe
This is an installer for Windows, which starts a standard installation wizard.
nuclear-<version>.exe
This is a portable version, meaning the entire program is contained within a single file.
