Found an encouraging macro recorder and player that's open source and easy to use. It also expressly states portability and includes options to handle local settings storage.
I was put off this program initially because it seemed mouse focused and like a demo. I've tested some similar looking programs without success. But although there's a pro version available, this app seems to have plenty to offer in it's free version.
Features
Or at least the ones I'm excited about:
Easy to record macro processes without a lot of extra noise.
Macro files are saved as simple text documents, and are easily edited with simple coordinates and timing.
Lots of additional functiality in the menus, but works just fine with basic recordings.
