NiceScaler - useful small photo enlarger with AI

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

NiceScaler - useful small photo enlarger with AI

#1 Post by MakoSoft »

Photo enlargement is a difficult task. For many years there have been
developed commercial programs for this purpose, operating on different
mathematical principles and giving better or worse visual results.
Recently, elements of Artificial Intelligence have begun to be used.

NiceScaler is one of the first freeware licensed programs for photo
upscaling applying AI with open source code, moreover, portable.
May be used too for video elevate resolution but I haven't tested it.

NiceScaler is image deeplearning upscaler for Windows (TM),
completely written in Python. External packages for AI are
from OpenCV (popular open-source Computer Vision library).

Requirements:
- System: Windows 11 / 10
- RAM not less than 8 GBytes
- Directx12 compatible GPU

Features:
- Input image files: png, jpg, bmp, webp, tif
- Output upscaled image will be saved as png
- Upscale (enlarge) factors: x2 and x4 (pixels)
- Working with list of images (in batch mode)

The advantages of the program are as follows:
- It has relatively low hardware requirements
- It is single small file (95 MB) and portable
(The above compared to other AI programs)
- It is further developed
- The Author answers questions quickly
- Drag & drop input files
- Simple and clear user interface

Some weaknesses for further improvement:
- Filenames with non-latin symbols not supported
- GPU upscaling does not work correctly with some gpus (use CPU)
- When running NiceScaler as Administrator, drag&drop is not working
- A Short User Guide in the form of a separate file would be useful
- Instead of professional names of libraries to choose from, it would be
better to have a short description of what is the strength of a particular
method - and guidance on what types of tasks to use it for.

Software Name: NiceScaler

Version: 3.0 Date: 17 0ct 2022
Download: NiceScaler3.0.exe (about 95 MB)

interesting
but you might get this one from windows :

"The app you're trying to install isn't a Microsoft-verified app"

unfortunately I havent yet figured out how to insert image from pc

but everything is explainde here :
https://www.iliumsoft.com/support/gener ... g-install/

short explanation :
What to do
I have an Install anyway button
If you see this message, simply click the “Install anyway” button, and the install should proceed.

I do not have an Install anyway button
If you don’t see an “Install anyway” button, you’ll need to change the default for this Microsoft Store setting:

Tap Start, then Settings, then select Apps
On the Apps & Features settings panel, find Choose where to get apps and change the setting to something other than The Microsoft Store only, since this option is the most restrictive
