Looking for a freeware CDROM Menu that plays MP3

Discuss hardware related to portable usage, including the kind of storage devices people use, and how they use them.

Looking for a freeware CDROM Menu that plays MP3

#1 Post by permtemp2003 »

I have about 500 mp3s that I would like to burn to CD/DVD. And I am looking for some kind of menu that would display a thumbnail of the album art. Click on it, and it would bring up the album songs. Click on it and the track would play. The only thing is that I would like to have the everything burned to the CD/DVD. Including the mp3 player. I have tried using HTML, but the file got so big, it made it hard to edit and update. Any help would be appreciated.

P.S.
Maybe use flac, wma, etc inplace of mp3, would be a plus.

I have used Mp3FE 1.4.4 (http://www.nonags.com/freeware-mp3fe_2006.html), but its limited to 25 albums, which is more than that will fit on a cdrom, but not enough for a DVD.

Most portable players here on the site do not organize themselves by album art. That's a fairly new method introduced by iTunes that hasn't made its way down to freeware options.

Possible routes:
- Songbird (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1957) is most likely to mimic iTunes-like menu operations but recent experience with it still doesn't have this option. However, I don't believe this is a program that will work from read-only media.
- Although not by default, there may be a way to modify Foobar2000 (http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=184) to do this, as its extremely customizable.

Thank you webfork, I just read you link for Foobar2000. It looks good, now I just have to figure out out to do this. Thanks for this.
