Problem: Samsung USB HD 250 Gb not recognized by Windows XP

#1 Post by rcarabaj »

Hello :D :

Please, I have a Samsung 250 Gb portable USB driver. It is recognized by some PCs, but in another machine, it is not detected by Windows XP SP3, the driver power on blue light always is off, and Windows does not recognized any activities in plug-in hardware. :| I tried assembling a dual USB cable taking power from 2 USB ports but nothing changes. These ports work well with standards pendrives. What can be wrong ? :?:

My best regards.

You also might try connecting it to a powered hub, which will be sure to supply all the needed electricity. Two USB connections is no guarantee.

A quick search on Google shows that Samsung USB HD 250 is not the "official" technical name so I'd figure out what the device ID is and dig around that way. And of course obviously check for some kind of driver at the samsung website.
