CDex V1.70 Beta 3

V1.70 Beta 3 is available
his version features a new hybrid installation approach. The installer includes the new 1.70 Beta 3 version
with many updates, but also the old Beta 2 Unicode and Non Unicode releases.
*Reverted database back to V1.70 Beta 2 seems to be a problem with the installer!

Definitely not a fan of the new installer method!
They should bring back the .ZIP package.

The database has been changed? I had a look at CDEx's forum and found this http://sourceforge.net/projects/cdexos/ ... ic/3459680, seems people are having problems with the new update! Hence why I reverted the entry back to beta 2 after testing. I agree the .ZIP format is much easier than have to Universal Extract.

hi
but http://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=275
is really stealth ?
because under w7 it left
LocalCDDB\
CDex.ini
Default.prf.ini
in AppData\Local\CDex\

Adding a note about the adware in the install version.
giulia wrote:AppData\Local\CDex\
Sigh.

I've been trying a bunch of different tricks to get around this but:
  • Various command line tricks aren't working, help file is useless
  • Dev's discussion forums up on the website and under sourceforge aren't working
This is why devs gotta just post a damn email address.

Anyway, my guess is I've gotta switch this over to the PortableApps version (WinPenPack is a little old). Suggestions?

[Moderator note: discussion surrounding the sourceforge hijack of the dormant CDex project has been moved to it's own thread.]

Any issues with this path?

Well, I think that was plenty of time for public comment so ... done.

According to my research it's an adware bundler, which is not the same as malware but might as well be. Anyway, that's really unfortunate. Another major project in the past few weeks with a terrible VT rating is bad for everyone. Anyway, I ran a check on the various different files that are put out by this project (below).

The second one is the download we're pointing to. The one with a high VT rating is the newest installer in bold and in red. I'll add a note to the entry so no one gets confused. Thanks for catching that.
