Parsec (desktop streaming utility)

#1 Post by Midas »

Not tested in any way, but Parsec still looked worthy of mention, especially on account of second quote below. It's free for personal use, but an account is required .
Remote desktop you’ll actually love, in crystal clear, interactive HD. Connect to work, games, or projects wherever you are, whenever you want.
If you need to install Parsec on a Windows machine somewhere where you don't have administrator privileges, you can get a portable version from the downloads page. The portable version will give you a zip containing the 32-bit version of Parsec that you can extract anywhere and run. It works great if you just need to join a computer.

I was especially intrigued, first and foremost, by the implications of using CLI curl (viewtopic.php?t=20900 & viewtopic.php?t=25260) to instantly setup a Parsec Windows server without any admin privileges (courtesy of a Github contributor, check https://github.com/chrismin13/parsec-download-script):

One more to add to the list of recent tools: Distant . The program is remarkably feature-rich for a freeware program so I'm thinking there's some kind of spyware user-data sale thing going on because I'm cynical. I can't tell either way.
