Winamp Skin Museum

#1 Post by SYSTEM »

There is a website that shows screenshots of tens of thousands of old Winamp skins.

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2020/1 ... lamas-ass/

The skins are a remnant from an era where tons of people created skins according to their tastes. There is a lot of range and creativity here. The skin museum is quite a sight, especially for people who grew up at the time.

Loved Winamp back in the day, but don't use it anymore.

I know someone that still uses Winamp. That person likes familiarity and doesn't like change :)

I heard of WinAmp and I know it was popular.
Many of these skins are real gems.
Great post especially for those who are interested in artistic interface design and emotional design ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emotional_Design )
Thanks!

Maybe they are compatible with WACUP (WinAmp Community Update Project) --> https://getwacup.com

Winamp skins are compatible with plenty of modern mediaplayers -- e.g, QMMP just to name one (see the following screenshot for a skinned example, originally posted to viewtopic.php?p=95188#p95188)...

Yeah, I know of Qmmp, but it's missing some features from Winamp that make Winamp special. I'd probably use WACUP instead if I wanted to use Winamp.

I mostly use 1by1 nowadays because I just want to play stuff from directories.
