Having mentioned ViPER4Windows (http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=59) a couple of times before, I mean to profit from the recent release of a new version of ViPER4Android to draw the community attention to this (and let's not mince words here) awesome free audiophile quality boost for the masses.

This isn't portable software in any of the supported platforms since it is basically a custom audio driver -- and it even requires 'root' privileges on Android -- but the benefits far outmatch the nuisance. On Windows, ViPER also requires DotNET (v2.0) for its control panel.
