GImageX (Windows disk imaging utility)

#1 Post by Midas »

Couldn't find any mention of AutoIt's GImageX and I really believe it's an useful resource, so a post for it is in order -- I'm making it at "Resources & Links" because it's only a frontend for a very specific MS tool, ImageX, which isn't included, nor is readily available (for more info, see below).
Download GImageX latest version (currently v2.1.1) from http://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit-tools/gimagex/.

NOTE: as written above, MS ImageX (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... s.10).aspx) is not available for download on its own but only as part of either the "Windows Automated Installation Kit" (WAIK) or the "Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit" (ADK), which although free, are huge downloads nearing 2 Gigabytes each. There are no alternative legal sources for ImageX. Luckily for us, MSFN forum user JFX faced the same problem and made up his own solution: Get WAIK Tools, which will fetch only the relevant bytes from legit MS sources (you'll need to download both the relevant WAIK/ADK and the corresponding DISM to get all of GImageX required files, as detailed in its help file; GWT is currently v2.2.1 and freely downloadable from http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/156869- ... huge-isos/)...
