  Windows only and DotNET v4.5 dependent (instructions for 'portability' at http://service.citavi.com/KB/a444/121-i ... drive.aspx).

• Readcube (http://www.readcube.com/)
  Based on Adobe Air, available for Windows & MacOS, registration required for client download, no info on portability.

• ScholarWriter (http://www.scholarwriter.com/)
  Online resource mainly, registration required for downloading a customized Drupal cum Uniform Server portable package (see 'About' webpage).

• Qiqqa (http://www.qiqqa.com/)
  Windows (DotNET v4.0 dependent) and Android client, highly praised by its users, portable but not stealth (for instructions, see https://getsatisfaction.com/qiqqa/topic ... ortability).

Hi, starstuff. Unfortunately, I'm still looking for a manageable solution for that particular area of my daily computing; for the time being, I make do with wikidPad's clipboard catcher and a few other lesser programs...

I came across a FireFox add-in called Save Text to File.

You can highlight a section or a whole page and then click a Save Text to File icon and it copies the selection to a text file.

It ignores images and copies only text.

It has options that allow the user to pick how and where the text is saved and how automated they want it to be.

A couple of examples:

Option to append to a specific file or to create individual files
Option to review or not review detailed info about the file before it's saved.

This is an example of what the output looks like.

It's simple but useful when you want to quickly grab pieces of info and not have to remember when and where you got it from.

In order to improve the post readability, could you possibly reformat it for a narrower display,
by inserting some line-breaks here and there, at judicious intervals within some overly long text lines?

This would ward off the pesky "horizontal scroll-bar" side-effect.

Or just select some of the text that's not wrapping properly and choose "Font size: Small" or "Tiny"

I have been accused of being a bit verbose from time to time.

Comes from drafting too many documents describing things in
excruciating detail directed at lawyers and dense business people.

Hopefully my edit meets everyone's standards and viewability criteria?

The program has mostly been replaced by a successor program called "Papers" https://www.papersapp.com/ but is still available for download http://download.readcube.com/client/readcube.exe (last updated back in 2013, thanks to Softpedia for this link).
