SourceForge's SSL cert expired, PortableApps.com workarounds

#1 Post by JohnTHaller »

SourceForge's security certificate for their site just expired at about 7pm tonight, so you'll get a security warning in your browser when you try to visit or download an app. We've moved the downloads of the PortableApps.com Platform to our own servers so users can download. All our open source apps hosted on SourceForge can be downloaded via the platform and will be verified by the platform for integrity as always.

You can also temporarily accept the security certificate for that browser session to make a download of individual files through your browser if that's your choice. There shouldn't be any long term security implications to this.

We'll update with additional details when we have them: http://portableapps.com/node/53279

Update: It appears they resolved the issue at around 10:35pm NY time by switching to their wildcard *.sourceforge.net certificate. So it would have been inaccessible to end users for about 3.5 hours.
