Chromium Portable v26.0.1410.5 won't run.

#1 Post by MnX »

I just downloaded this one and tried to run it on XP. I get a splash screen, but then nothing happens after that. Is anyone else having this same problem?

this happened to me, too. Seems like the new version wasn't compiled for x32 systems. Try the previous build, works fine

Ah, no‽ (WRT not being a 32-bit build)

it's not running under winxp. Tried to launch chrome.exe, but got an error saying "chrome.exe is not a valid win32 application".
Previous version runs fine.

same here-XPSP3
ran "Dependancy Walker" & found I'm missing a bunch of system files neccessary for this to run. Looks like a bunch of Borland Delphi & other misc. dlls. I put them in System32 folder one at a time, but the list seems endless. So I stopped after more work than I wanted to do to get a portable app working.
The daily builds of Chromium don't need to be installed, but they're most likely not stealth either. As the newer builds are a little buggy I thought I'd go with a portable version. Apparently this isn' the one I want.
Odd-I've never had this much of a problem getting a portable to run.

Try replacing some files in App\Chromium with these: https://www.sugarsync.com/pf/D6503600_64437840_87591

The main difference is that I (accidentally) built this release using Visual Studio 2012, but it seems that it still has support for Windows XP SP3…

When you compile programs that are supposed to run under Windows XP with Visual Studio 2012, you must install Update 1 and set Platform Toolset in Project Properties to v110_xp. See http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vcblog/archive/ ... 57555.aspx.

Thank you, but I can't see how to enable this on Chromium's build system, so I'll revert to Visual Studio 2010 on the next release.
