YzDock - Program Launcher a la MacOS

#1 Post by dot »

YzDock

Beautiful program launcher as in MacOS (found on winpenpack.com).

Very cute and special launcher. I found some info on the internet. The program is no more being developed as the Japanese programmer got hassled by Apple because of alleged copyright infringements. But the program is also supposed to be rather "final".

Useful description on softpedia.com:

A free program launcher like the dock in MacOS X.

In order to add icons, drag and drop a file (.exe, shortcut, etc.) straight from Explorer to the dock area.

In order to delete an icon, drag and drop the icon out of dock. Place the PNG images for your icons in the icons folder.

Right-click on the icons in the dock, choose 'Property' and choose your icons images there. Right-click anywhere on your dock background and choose 'Setting' to change the settings that apply to the dock itself.

I downloaded it at majorgeeks.com for some strange reason: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download2790.html

Unzip, doubleclick and get a surprise! ;)

I'm not sure about this one. Due to the legal problems the author faced, I'd be hesitant to add it to TPFC even if it is portable. I am aware that there are tons of places you can get it, but it's still kinda iffy to me. I'll leave this one for Andrew to decide.

Well, I guess we can't go wrong with SoftPedia and MajorGeeks listing it! :D

Besides, we already have RK Launcher, which does pretty much the same thing.

Though this program can't compete with PowerPro, I enjoy using it for programs that I'm just trying out for a while, as adding and removing them (just drag & drop) to this launcher is much faster than in PowerPro.

If someone has experience with that program, could he please tell me how to remove a separator once it has been added! There is one in that launcher by default. I added a second one, just for testing and I can't remove it. Even tried editing the "itemlist.ini", but the separator don't go away. Almost suppose it's a bug. Probably will have to live with that separator forever.

OK, I found out finally! To remove a separator you have to press CTRL and pull the separator with the mouse (left button) out of the launcher and the separator will "dissolve" into thin dust, as all the other icons usually do (without CTRL).

You can also move the separator within the launch bar by keeping CTRL pressed.

For an application that was last updated back in 2003, I have to say it's impressive that it still works on new systems too.

Still there, Y'z Dock. How I found it was searching the keyword 'dock' and then checking the launchers section.
