OpenMPT portable audio tracker

#1 Post by webfork »

Another tracker program for the site, this one GPL'd.
Softpedia has a whole separate download page for the portable version, while the main site seems to indicate the EXE file has a portable mode. Will look into this shortly.

How to make portable:

Simply create a file called mptrack.ini in the same directory as the main executable (mptrack.exe) and insert the following lines in this file:

Code: Select all

[Paths]
UseAppDataDirectory=0

Topic update: OpenMPT v1.28.08.00 released 2019-10-27 (announcement at https://openmpt.org/openmpt-1-28-08-00-released; contains link to full changelog).

OpenMPT is a popular tracker software for Windows [...] (short hand for Open ModPlug Tracker). Based on the original ModPlug Tracker written by Olivier Lapicque, OpenMPT is free software, can import a wide variety of module formats and offers an intuitive, native GUI as well as advanced features such as VST plugins and ASIO output.

It won't do much good without a pointer: https://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=3013...

BTW, here's something really unusual (I think) for a FLOSS project that I just noticed in the sidebar of OpenMPT's homepage:

Are these figures for real? If so, OpenMPT is bound to become the Methuselah of Open Source. :smile_cat:

Thanks, forgot about the link, as for donations it's perhaps some rich musician donated to the tool he really needs.
Methuselah of Open Source would be Blender :)

I came back to this and looks to be natively portable without any additional tweaks. I've updated the entry (https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=3013) and voted. Thanks to toitoy for adding it to the database.
