Has someone tried 7.1? The "All new interface design" seems to mean removing many features. Looks good but it is very minimal. I'm not sure it got better.

Edit: seems that many features are stuffed into context menus. Anyway, I still feel that usability/efficiency is harmed but it is still powerful.

The latest version of Foxmail (as of 2018-06-10) is 7.2.9.156 (released on 2018-06-06):

It looks like this:

there are untranslated strings:

it supports system tray:

I was able to extract the installer (FoxmailSetup_7.2.9.156.exe) using 7-Zip (version 18.05).

To use Foxmail in English go to Languages sub-folder and either delete Chinese.lgb and Chinese_big5.lgb files or create Language.ini file with the following content:

Code: Select all

[Default]
ActiveLang=English
The RSS module cannot import feeds from OPML files.

Mail backup transfers between Mac OS and Windows

#21 Post by lovecd »

Hello, I'm new here, and for some reason I can't find "post new topic" link under my account, so, I just post my message here, hope some one can help me, thank you!

Basically, I used foxmail on my macbook pro before, and backup the mail messages under Mac OS, now, I changed to windows, and want to know if the mail backup I created under Mac OS can be transferred to Foxmail in windows? If yes, how to do it?

Many thanks.

Shaun

I can't seem to find anything on that as it doesn't appear their support forum is in English.

Little known (at least for me) historical facts about Foxmail...
In 1996, in Guangzhou, China, Xiaolong ‘Allen’ Zhang released the beta version of a desktop email client called Foxmail. Over the next several years, Foxmail would win acclaim for its fresh, minimal aesthetic and user-friendly interface. By 2001, it enjoyed 33% market share in China with over 3 million users daily, besting Netscape and others, while its English version found favor among users in over 20 countries. Four years later, newly-public Tencent came calling. Tencent, the internet conglomerate that had listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2004, acquired Foxmail, China’s largest email client at the time, in March 2005 -- its first acquisition. As part of the purchase agreement, Zhang joined Tencent, where he was named General Manager of its Guangzhou R&D division. His primary task? Strengthen its webmail product, QQ Mail...
