Update - 4.09.2014 StylePix 1.14.3.2
* Supports a portable version. To be run as a portable version, the 'IsPortable.asl' file should be in the same folder with StylePix.exe.

The author might be following our forum because from the changes log -
Improved the portable version to do not use the registry.

Hornil StylePix v1.14.5.0 was released sometime ago

(changelog at http://hornil.com/products/stylepix/VersionHistory.html).

There's also a new Beta (v2.0.0.4) for upcoming v2, with the interface revamped to support high density displays and a native 64-bit executable. Betas are as portable as the stable releases, but you'll have have to (Uni)extract the installer package yourself and create an empty 'IsPortable.asl' file in program folder. Settings are kept in the program folder, mostly in what looks like a JSON text file named 'StylePixConfig.asl'.

The freeware StylePix lacks some features of the Pro version -- a comparison table is available at hornil.com/products/stylepix/VersionComparison.html and, lacking a legend, I take a triangle to mean a difference and an "X" to mean the feature is absent.

This deserves highlighting again, as it is the significant piece for portability of both versions of StylePix.

New version out but changes are minor and nothing in the changelog to suggest that they've fixed the portability issue:

The latest portable version won't run on my Win7 laptop. I get a message suggesting I contact the author to find out whether I need a 32-bit or 64-bit version. My computer is exclusively x86, so apparently 32-bit support was not included in this version. There has been absolutely no response to the queries I sent to the author approx. 6 months ago.

I've been able to run version 1.14.5, which is still available through the Wayback Machine. Not bad, but it needs a better arbitrary rotation feature, because it offers no preview, so the angle of rotation has to be guessed at and entered. If it's wrong, you have to undo it and try another value. There's also no autocrop for it.

The Pro version seems to have been folded into the freeware version. Unfortunately it also looks like the portable version is no longer on their download page.
