Written in Autohotkey, 7plus is a project which tries to make working with Windows much more comfortable by adding features to explorer, window handling, and lots of other small tweaks. For example it allows you to quickly upload files to an FTP server directly from explorer with a single hotkey, navigate to your favorite folders with numpad keys, keep windows always on top, etc...

Features

Explorer
  • Store favorite folders and recall them for very fast navigation
Upload files, screenshots and clipboard content directly to an FTP server with just one hotkey
Create new folders and textfiles by pressing F8/F7
Paste text or image from clipboard as file
Open any file in your favorite text/image editor by pressing F3
Copy filenames (ALT+C) and Filepaths (CTRL+ALT+C)
Append files to the clipboard without replacing the current clipboard
Go upwards by double clicking on free space in the file list
Scroll the explorer tree without activating it
Execute files which are only focussed but not selected with Enter
Automatically select first file when you enter a directory
Hold down right mouse button and click left to go back

Windows 7/Vista specific
  • Show favorite folders in the explorer folder band bar like Web Browser favorite bars
    Make Backspace go upwards again
Show free space and selected file size in status bar
Automatically check "Apply to all further operations" checkboxes in file operation dialog boxes
Window Handling, Taskbar
  • Set windows to be "Always on top" by right clicking the title bar
Close windows by middle clicking task buttons
Execute a program by double clicking the taskbar
Move windows out of the screen and have them slide in when you move the mouse to the border
Activate blinking windows and toggle between current and previous window with Capslock
Close programs by middle clicking the title bar
Kill programs by pressing ALT+F5 or right clicking the close button
Windows 7/Vista specific
  • Activate Aero Flip 3D by moving the mouse to the top left corner of the screen
Change the desktop wallpaper by middle clicking on the desktop (Win7 only)
Cycle through windows by clicking on a task group button (Win7 only)
Misc
  • Paste previous clipboard text entries by pressing WIN+V
Use a Joypad/Gamepad to remote control the mouse, keyboard and zoom
Open current folder in CMD by pressing WIN+C and enable CTRL+V to paste and ALT+F4 in CMD
Rotate images in Windows Picture Viewer by pressing R and L

Found out about this on Caschy's blog.

I'm very impressed!

I'm having serious issues with 7plus regarding the portability.
Version 2.2.0 refuses to save the settings in the app's folder! Both x86 and x64 versions. It's frustrating!
Anyone care to check on this? The settings are saved (for me) in AppData/7plus.
I'm on win7x64, admin, no UAC.

Edit: I found the culprit!
2.1.0 introduces the possibility to run 7plus in portable mode (command line: "-portable")
We'll have to update our "How to" instructions!

I don't have such directory in %APPDATA%. I use 32-bit Windows XP on a limited user account...

...and I launch 7plus with the -portable parameter (mentioned here).

However, -portable causes 7plus to show this warning every time I launch it (even when I do have admin rights):

The settings are actually saved, though.

Edit: Joby was faster than me.

I tried this program a few weeks ago; it's meant to be used on Windows 7, so things like explorer tabs will not work on XP.

Also the program eats a terrible amount of RAM, but it does a lot of stuff.
is it stealth? ;)

If I was the developer I would use this >> http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... 323#p27323 in the AHK Program :)

7plus 2.4.0 has a major bug in portable mode: http://code.google.com/p/7plus/issues/detail?id=342

At least for me this is totally unacceptable, so I have reverted the entry to version 2.3.0. SnapFiles is still hosting 7plus 2.3.0 (well, to be exact, they simply link to the files in Google Code). I also have local copies of the archives (both 32-bit and 64-bit) in case SnapFiles updates the links.

That's quite an important issue they should fix soon. Strange how updating the code could create such a huge bug such as this.
