SeaMonkey v2.53.5.1 released 2020-11-17 (release notes at www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.53.5.1/#new).

Incidentally, having now fixed the most pressing computer woes I've been having lately, I'm still stuck with an outdated version of SeaMonkey Portable, with most alternative paths to upgrade it looking rather murky ATM.

PortableApps.com version still is one year old v2.49.5 (it was released 2019-09-04; see portableapps.com/apps/internet/seamonkey_portable), supposedly on account of the issues discussed at https://portableapps.com/node/60496.

FWIW, there are multi-platform builds of v2.53 (and of v2.57!) at https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/.

This wouldn't be specially grave were it not for the fact that SeaMonkey is a Web browser, with all it entails, so I think we must be doing something about this soon here at TPFC -- we either make the database entry private or find another source...

Even though tthe usage is probably very small potatoes next to other browsers, but it remains a very useful program with a ton of functionality. Good to keep on top of it. I certainly use it.

i use it only for rare cases, a few email accounts.

The problem for me is it seems somewhat heavy and also opening and closing individual tabs is inconvenient

BTW, Vivaldi is also getting there. Its built-in email client, feed reader and calendar are in preview.

SeaMonkey Portable 2.53.6 has finally been released with the fixes for modern extension portablization. It's also now a dual mode 32/64-bit app for best performance and full compatibility as you move about. Having found all sorts of uses for Regular Expressions over the past year, I was amused to see a 21 year old feature request with a $200 USD bounty on it for regex tools in SeaMonkey - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32641

To be clear, I'm not hounding the project developers -- I acknowledge that they likely have other priorities that don't include a somewhat niche edit function.

Regular Expressions has the strange tendency to be somehow alternately the worst and best solution to a lot of problems and that hasn't changed since like the 80s. All the slightly-different flavors definitely doesn't help. So you get find some weird stuff looking around for regex solutions.

True, but there is Firefox add-on that I use from time to time that's not bad: Find and Replace for Text Editing: https://find-and-replace-f6588.firebaseapp.com/ ... I use this for in-line search-and-replace in PortableFreeware posts off and on.

There's also Multiple Search and Highlight, which is great for creating visibility by highlighting *everything* in the search, but that doesn't (yet) support case-sensitivity - https://add0n.com/multiple-highlight.html
