SeaMonkey v2.53.5.1 released 2020-11-17 (release notes at www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.53.5.1/#new).

Incidentally, having now fixed the most pressing computer woes I've been having lately, I'm still stuck with an outdated version of SeaMonkey Portable, with most alternative paths to upgrade it looking rather murky ATM.

PortableApps.com version still is one year old v2.49.5 (it was released 2019-09-04; see portableapps.com/apps/internet/seamonkey_portable), supposedly on account of the issues discussed at https://portableapps.com/node/60496.

FWIW, there are multi-platform builds of v2.53 (and of v2.57!) at https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/.

This wouldn't be specially grave were it not for the fact that SeaMonkey is a Web browser, with all it entails, so I think we must be doing something about this soon here at TPFC -- we either make the database entry private or find another source...

The new version is being worked on now. I was planning on releasing it today but I'm verifying whether it is affected by the new taskbar pinning protocol and update checking techniques in Firefox/Thunderbird first: https://portableapps.com/node/63225

Even though tthe usage is probably very small potatoes next to other browsers, but it remains a very useful program with a ton of functionality. Good to keep on top of it. I certainly use it.

i use it only for rare cases, a few email accounts.

The problem for me is it seems somewhat heavy and also opening and closing individual tabs is inconvenient

BTW, Vivaldi is also getting there. Its built-in email client, feed reader and calendar are in preview.

SeaMonkey Portable 2.53.6 has finally been released with the fixes for modern extension portablization. It's also now a dual mode 32/64-bit app for best performance and full compatibility as you move about.
