Xacrett - A lightweight extraction utility

#1 Post by Easybeat »

Xacrett is a very small extraction utility (180kb's) that I have tested with both Rar and Zip files but it can handle up to 40 formats.

http://www.kmonos.net/lib/xacrett.en.html

To use, download the version#49 self extraction package and run.
Run Xacrett the file to determine the extraction location, then drag and drop compressed items onto the .exe file in explorer to extract to your specified directory.

Hmmm, drag-and-drop files to the EXE? I don't like it. Does anyone else think this should be added to the database?

hi and welcome 2 me first *lol

just discovered this site one month ago
i'm a french girl and my english is not really good
so all my apologizes for that

since i found this (i can say it) absolutely formidable site
i can confess i installed lot and lot of standalone freeware

concerning Xacrett i tested it
but deleted to choose NOAH from the same site
http://www.kmonos.net/lib/noah.en.html

Noah has more options
plus you have what they called 'Arc-View-Mode'

so i don't know what you all think about it

Good call on Noah.

BTW What is so bad about dragging a rar file onto an exe?

if you talked about the executable itself
i had no problem even with Xacrett
to drag&drop any zip/rar files into the exe

the good point is you can choose to add the shell extension
and the "send to" shortcut via the options

now if u talked about something like
how to turn a .zip file into an executable .exe
so the zip can then be unzipped without having any unZIP software installed

sorry but i don't know yet
have not the time to learn more

Thanks 4sydney.
Noah is an excellent. It has already replaced my previous zip-program.

@Andrew Lee
"shell extension", look at the "Windows" tab.

No, I mean shell extension for Xacrett, not Noah.

Was playing around with Noah. What's the easiest way to download all the DLLs in one full swipe? Currently, it seems like you have to visit dozens of websites, download dozens of EXEs, run all of these EXEs and extract them to different subfolders. Then you have to move the DLLs from all these subfolders to the Noah application folder. Is there an easier way?

Auto DLL downloader

Look for the "caldix" utility from the same author here--

http://www.kmonos.net/lib/index.en.html

It's a tiny executable that will auto-download all the different compression DLLs.

i had no problem with the DLL stuff

i just downloaded the .zip file,
extracted it and launched the .exe
and everything were good

this is the DLL list Noah seems to use:

Image

plus
unacev2.dll from another prog
comctl32.dll and of course
noahXt.dll from herself

now i guess it depends on the associations i made
well maybe it's already mentioned inside noahXt.dll

so i can't tell you
