I found a couple of other sources -- but considering v2.1.969 was released in 2010-11-19 and v2.2.1045 (the one I have) in 2016-01-25, what are the main advantages of the older release? Last freeware?

could you share v2.2.1045 hash ?

There is no precise changelog for each new 2.x version. There is some information but everything is quite mixed. :|

Latest version 2.2.1046 (in its free version) supports these new features compared to 2.1.969 : HLS (m3u8), Sleep timer, Flac support,... (BASS library 2.4.5 -> 2.4.11*)

The main problem seems to be that the author started using Enigma Protector when he developed the paid version. ("Enigma" added keys to the registry.. in portable mode : page 2)

(*) : if you update the BASS libraries (which doesn't seem to be useful with RS 2.2.1046), you have to test them well, the last versions cause the software to crash... (version 2.4.14 of 2019 seems to be the last compatible one, but I didn't see any benefit.)

You can find a screenshot of the differences between the free and paid version in these faq (see bottom of the page) : https://www.radiosure.fr/faq.html :)

(Now, the free version can also benefit from daily updates via a script.)

This is 2.1.969 (2010), the next version seems to be 2.2.991 (2011) and the latter uses Enigma Protector with its registry key.

I found these 2 sources for RadioSure 2.1.969 (latest version is 2.2.1046) : VirusTotal's information is reassuring (1st analysis in 2010.. latest 2022). :)

My date info was gathered from one of the download sources I found, so no wonder it's inaccurate. :|

Your information seems to match up well. :) (I also find several months of differences from one website to another.. and the compilation date reported by virustotal a little bit strange sometimes... so I corrected my post with just the probable years of release. :? )

I was unaware of the existence of version 2.2.1045 (2016-01-12), it was released shortly before 2.2.1046 (2016-01-28) which probably fixes a bug.

Code: Select all

radiosure.exe (SHA-256) :
- 2.1.969 (Compilation Timestamp 2010-06-21 17:35:10 UTC) : b0e9c7c84052f682bd461be74876367d66f2b6efa4803a18dc85417f8d1b0556
- 2.2.1045 (Compilation Timestamp 2016-01-12 20:50:28 UTC) : 35f186d74f6e56663d16d92ea662ef84aa6d9afff9b7fdaa48c8a243a1db1135
- 2.2.1046 (Compilation Timestamp 2016-01-28 19:57:59 UTC) : a7e4a1b0f6059d4fb46499718a77ffc686eaad55f55a71644ad0455af0b0cc27

Radiosure Installer (SHA-256) :
- 2.1.969 : 484ff3579d07ad0a541ab279459ca6cbe25c237cfec0aabe76c6e7d5ca34450f
- 2.2.1045 : 0a53bff3d109b65230430112b9305c4d61af0eca9536470cbf07181f27d9f63a
- 2.2.1046 : 2bb9b0867b2aa71e4fa53e0a360637adc6705076b500ce5d3da4bed4030a1293
Edit : I tested something..If the key used by "RS+Enigma P." is deleted, RS recreated it (it keeps its name but stores another value), this does not seem to have any impact on the software (eg: if it is registered, it stays registered). For portable use, this key "proves" that RS was used on a machine but apparently nothing more. :|

Edit 2 : Good news for 2.1.969 users, if you replace the "bass.dll" file (v°2.4.5) with the one provided with RS 2.2.1046 (v°2.4.11) you get Flac support (eg: Radio Paradise). :)

Great info! 8)

Does that include support for AAC stations, too?

I tested a few dozen links and did not notice any problem with aac and aac+ (with the 2 versions of bass.dll) and no "crash" to report. :)
