Updated!

I don't know if you are aware, but as a new member you have the ability to add new applications but can't edit any until you have reached 50 forum posts or more.

I am aware (I mentioned I've been lurking quite long ;) ), but I'm too lazy to test software for portability. In addition, virtually all software that I know of and might be worth adding have been mentioned in the forum.

I'm going to update database entries (version numbers, at least) directly as soon as I'm able to. :)

VLC media player v2.0 "Twoflower" is available.
With faster decoding on multi-core, GPU, and mobile hardware and the ability to open more formats, notably professional, HD and 10bits codecs, 2.0 is a major upgrade for VLC.
Twoflower has a new rendering pipeline for video, with higher quality subtitles, and new video filters to enhance your videos.
It supports many new devices and BluRay Discs (experimental).
Completely reworked Mac and Web interfaces and improvements in the other interfaces make VLC easier than ever to use.
Twoflower fixes several hundreds of bugs, in more than 7000 commits from 160 volunteers.

Does anybody know the trick to change VLC language? I've tried everything I've found on the web and nothing worked...

Tools >> Preferences >> Interface and then menus language. It might require a restart of the application.

Thanks guinness, but it doesn't work. I've tried reseting preferences and the cache, starting with --language=es, but nothing...

Do the language files exist? Because this appears to be the approach to changing the languages.

It works fine in VLC Portable 2.0.0. I changed it to German, restarted, and it stayed in German even though Windows is in English.

I'm sure is something on my system. I tried with the last 1.x version and with winPenPack's version and nothing at all.
I've made a change in my regional settings to test a solution. After the next restart I'll report the results. Thanks!

I have to say I had strange results with WPP's launcher too, so this was the reason I migrated to using John's PAF and it worked.

Hi to all,
X-VideoLan http://www.winpenpack.com/main/download.php?view.36 allow to change the interface language without any problem, so maybe you were refering to a very old version ;) . In that case, is enough to edit your X-VideoLan.ini file and comment (prepending with ";") the line containing "LANG" (or "LANGUAGE").
We will publish soon the latest X-VideoLan 2.0.0, so stay tuned!
Best Regards
ZioZione
