Is there anyone out there who knows how to make the latest version of Live Messenger to be a portable messenger...

It would be against the License to Make Live messenger Portable but there are a number of portable IM clients that not only will do MSLive but all the other Chat protocols you are using too all in one program
I used to use trillian but have fallen in love with the Modularity of Miranda, which you can use to basically to everything Live does with the right plugins

Not the latest, but 8.5 - works quite nicely 
No idea how it was done, but being fed up by the "live install" crap and stilling clinging to the good old messy, I opted for it:
