FYI, a previous Crimson Editor discussion can be found at viewtopic.php?ft=836.

Crimson Editor is still a very capable programming oriented text editor packed in a minute (~1,2MB) executable -- if not for the lack of Date/Time string customization and some UI quirks under Windows 10, namely the fact that, because the CE executable is unsigned, it triggers a warning on every launch about it wanting to change system settings...

The last version referenced in the homepage is v3.72, released 2008-05-14 -- while the one you mention above was released in 2011-10-01, which probably still makes it fully XP compatible (untested!).

FTR, Crimson Editor portability is achieved by placing 'global settings.ini' in program folder with the following content:

Code: Select all

[Settings]
Portability=1
Current SF.net 'cedt-286M-X.X' MD5 hashes are:
ZIP
64557c2ef67b9c97f4d27c06fe6c00d4
7Z
a0daa78ff5b61bec2772c5d4d4fabbbf
EXE
b1e05e1d978c9a641902c8ff1dedc9af
Nice to see such gems aren't going to waste, BTW. 8)

• user.dic: thesaurus
cedt.dic has precedence over user.dic.
You can use one dictionary at a time (cedt.dic or user.dic): if You need a dictionary in another language, please:
1. download the desired dictionary
2. extract the archive file
3. rename the dictionary as 'cedt.dic'
You can download dictionaries from PSPad /Download -> Spell-check dictionaries https://www.pspad.com/en/download.php
