Is it really necessary to have a portable replacement for Windows Disk Defragmenter? Perhaps not, but here are a few anyway (and they are very small). :)

Why use this defragger instead of the standard Windows defragger?
Much faster.
Easier to use.
Better optimization.
Has directory optimization.
Maintains a scratch area.
Can be run automatically with Windows Scheduler.
There is no "setup" or "install" and no configuration file. All you have to do is download and unpack, the utility is ready to run.

Power Defragmenter is a GUI (Graphic User Interface) application for program Contig by Sysinternals.
Contig is a very powerful defragmentation application designed for Windows NT/2000/XP operating systems.

You can download latest standalone Sysinternals Contig application here:

No install, copy all files to the same folder.

While I agree that this application is a delight (I use it as well), it relies on command-line switches for complete functionality. Read the FAQ concerning command-line apps: http://www.portablefreeware.com/faq.php . Thanks for the suggestion, though! :)

Oh looks like I jumped the gun eh? Sorry for that :)
Nevertheless, a great application

Isn't there some gui builder program out there that can be used to make this more functional? I'm sure I saw one somewhere. It was mentioned in the forums over at portableapps.com

What do you mean by that mate?
Let's say, you want to defrag volume E.
Use a shortcut and enter the following exactly as it appears:

Code: Select all

"D:\Program Files\Defrag-2.22\Defrag.exe" "E:"
Just replace Defrag.exe by WinDefrag.exe if you want the GUI to show.

Code: Select all

"D:\Program Files\Defrag-2.22\WinDefrag.exe" "E:"

He does have a point. What does the guy's EULA say about this? Are we allowed to repackage it with sets of .BAT files pre-made for common Hard Drive letters? Or perhaps convince him to package them in.
