Tweakeze

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Tweakeze

A software solution that is designed to help you watch (monitor) changes on Microsoft Windows File System and Registry Databases.

The application uses a set of pre-defined or custom instructions called "Watchers".

Any change to the data being watched can trigger pre-defined or custom (vbscript, jscript, PowerShell, batch file) Actions.

Interesting stuff and welcome to the site, are you the dev?

I read through the license, looks like freeware for non-commercial use, but not seeing a pathway to buying a commercial license, if someone wanted to go that route. Softpedia is listing it as "donationware."

Hi webfork,

You are right, it is freeware for non-commercial use.

We will try to keep it that way by asking users to contribute:
https://tweakeze.com/dc/

Once users contribute, they get a badge that they can activate and will have full access in case we ever have to lock some features to make money...

Business are encourage to try. We will post on our site how to buy for commercial usage.

At the moment, we want as many users (consumer/business) as possible to try and give us feedback.

We hope that with this approach we can get the word out and people like our software and want to either buy or contribute.

Thanks!

Got it, thanks. I don't know how much of a problem this is, but you might wish to add something to the license around "Reproduce, copy, distribute, resell or otherwise use the Software for any commercial purpose, excluding those that have purchased a license (https://tweakeze.com/dc/)"

VirusTotal has 8 detections and it is potentially unsafe. Also, FSecure blocked it on my PC immediately after download and that rarely happens.

IMHO, not surprising, as Tweakeze is a system settings modifier -- note how most of those flags contain "generic" and at least one mention of "PUA"...

I'd worry if at least one of those flags came from a big AV house (like Eset, Kaspersky, Microsoft, Emsisoft, Malwarebytes and such).

Hi slmnx,

I am sorry to hear that you are having issues with our installer and FSecure blocking it.

You analyzed the installer which is just a NSIS installer and we guarantee you that it does not contain any viruses or any other form of malware. Actually the only thing in it is the executable Tweakeze.exe.

You can always use the ZIP file and extract Tweakeze.exe which is the most important part of all this.
https://tweakeze.com/get/zip

Here is the link to Virustotal for Tweakeze.exe:
https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/cb5 ... 8d/details

we also guarantee that there is not viruses or malware even though it shows 2 detections.
Please make sure you download from us directly.

We are trying to create a product to help people organize and maintain their computer and would never ship anything that could harm your computer or any form of malware, virus, adware and etc.

I hope this helps and please feel free to contact us directly if you have any questions:

Thank you!

@Freewod: Can you submit the program to a site like Softpedia that does it's own malware analysis?

Without getting into a lot of background that I'm a little tired of chasing, you may not be able to fully eliminate false-positives about your software, since it relies on a lot of different AV services that never quite agree. To be clear, we do prefer to highlight programs with low VT numbers, but even the current rating doesn't exclude involvement here on TPFC. We have a few programs we're confident are safe but are going on multiple years being flagged as "potentially unwanted." My favorite is Bat to EXE Converter: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1660

Nirsoft's False Positive post is instructive here: https://blog.nirsoft.net/2009/05/17/ant ... evelopers/
