Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

bomi (advanced media player)

#1 Post by Midas »

bomi (http://bomi-player.github.io/) looks impressive already with being multi-platform FOSS (Linux and Windows; GPLv2) and highly customizable.

Unfortunately, it saves its settings in a folder at '%APPDATA%\xylosper' and creates a parallel 'cache' folder at the same location.

Just install and enjoy it! There will be already what you expect. If you don't like, you can configure almost everything. bomi is a graphical user interface (GUI) player based on mpv for Linux.

bomi is portable:

Checking "Save persistent data in application folder (restart required)" box makes bomi portable.

  • Duh! I had an inkling it was portable, but couldn't find any instructions for it and didn't check the settings as thoroughly as I should have. :?

Nice work, smaragdus, thanks. bomi is a powerful addition to an already booming media toolset, as the article mentioned by webfork highlights...

For example, as you resize the player, Bomi shows you the current video playback size up in the corner. Another big one is the ability to seek by searching for subtitle text!

I forgot to mention that once portable mode is enabled, bomi saves settings in config sub-folder inside program folder.

Edit
I forgot to mention one more thing- I think that it is not very likely a new version to be released in the near future- more bomi news at publisher's Twitter page. On 2015.06.06 I submitted a bug and never got a response from the developer.
