Change DNS Helper (networking settings utility)

Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

Change DNS Helper (networking settings utility)

#1 Post by Midas »

Change DNS Helper (http://www.site2unblock.com/change-dns-helper/) is a natively portable DNS settings GUI (untested!).

DNS server details are kept in 'DnsServers.ini', a plain text file present in the program's folder that can be easily edited for personal preferences.

By changing the default DNS servers with public DNS services, you can improve the online security by blocking malicious websites (Safe DNS), you can access blocked or censored websites, you can protect your children blocking adult websites (Family DNS), and you can browse websites faster since almost any public DNS service has very fast DNS servers.

I was wondering why the portables from http://www.site2unblock.com/ aren't listed here
in PFs database.

Has anyone installed any of these portables and if so, were the results as you expected?

If these utilities are as the author says, it seems to me as though these portables could be quite helpful.

Your input on this issue would be appreciated and not just by me, I'm sure.

Thank you in advance for your time and input.

If you come upon a portable program that you find useful and it passes your portability tests you may check whether it has been submitted to the database and reviewed at the forum and if it hasn't you may write a short review about it at the forum, then you may add it to the database and then you may notify the community about your submission via a forum post. Initially it will be a private entry (not visible in the database) and if/when the program gets the necessary rating (10 member points) the entry becomes a public one (visible in the database). In short- this is the normal practice here.

smaragdus,
Thanks for your reply.

I guess I was asking for input because I know that there's folks here who test apps.
So, before I install any of these apps and say the app messed up my system, I just thought that anyone who has the knowledge of testing purposes could reply to my post.

I only have 1 computer so, I try to be careful and not mess it up.

So, when you folks talk about testing apps, I think about folks who are techie unlike myself who is an average user without the knowledge of how to use special testing apps.

So, in other words, I came to the forum for your expert advice :)
