There are now many new features like cluster mode, sharing connections between users, master password, Pageant integration...

If you're using Windows and want to SSH into your remote linux systems, then it would be worth to give WinSSHTerm a try.

I've made screencasts for some features to show how to use it:

I know it's a little late for an answer to your post last year...
it is just a GUI for open source tools (which do not beg for donations)
It is more than just a GUI for open source tools, because it makes it much easier working with them together.
it is not open source (WinSSHTerm license)
Yes, but it's free.
it requires .NET
Right. It requires .NET Framework 4.0 or later, which is per default available on Windows >= 8.
If there weren't "Support WinSSHTerm" button I might have voted for WinSSHTerm to make it public and visible since if KiTTY portable is used in stead of PuTTY, WinSSHTerm seems to be portable- in fact that was why I decided to test it.
This button was too much, I agree with you now. That's why I removed it. Although I received more donations than I expected.
If you do not manually edit the PuTTY session "WinSSHTerm", it should also be portable with PuTTY (for those who are interested -> point 4 in the FAQ page).
I browsed through WinSSHTerm change log at its web-site and at Softpedia but I didn't find when was this new button added which means that this change is sneaky and undocumented.
Wrong, the support button was there from the first version, that's why there is nothing in the changelog.

Again, WinSSHTerm has been improved. It has grown to a very usable, fast and solid SSH tool for Windows. If you are sick of crap software with non-stop crashes then try WinSSHTerm. It's also free - really free. There are no shitty restrictions like e.g. "max. 12,5 connections in the free version".

If you are working with the current version of WinSSHTerm and experience crashes, then I'd be glad if you post this here. If the crash is reproducible and is not a result of raping the software, I'll send 25€ to your PayPal account!

WinSSHTerm is one of the best wrappers for PuTTY. A good choice if you're on Windows and need a SSH tool.

Many users already switched to WinSSHTerm - once you get used to the features it's hard to go back. It's the same reason why I'm using WinSSHTerm.

Also, my payment offer from the last post is still valid (but I admit it's no easy money;)

So if you're unhappy with your current SSH tool - no matter if free or commercial - you can give WinSSHTerm a try.

FYI, while testing the last v1.12.10, WinSSHTerm automagic install failed with both WinSCP and VcXsrv.

Tried several times with different filesystems locations. Succeeded with manual extracting and copying...

What's the difference between v1.x and 2.x?

EDIT: to answer my own question, v1.x is liteware without nags (see https://winsshterm.blogspot.pt/2017/09/ ... eased.html).

Hey Midas!

Thanks for taking the time for a test run! I appreciate it.

I've tried to reproduce the problem, but I couldn't. I haven't changed the code for extracting for a long time, and until now you are the first one who reported this kind of problem...

Are you sure you're not running out of disk space, or that your downloaded zip archive isn't corrupt?

Your question about v2:
Yes, v2 has (slightly) more features but with pop-ups - v1 will stay free and receive bug fixes. It's ensuring the project stays alive.

EDIT: Are you using Windows XP? Because Windows XP is not supported....

I've made a test version which should output more info about the exception in the message box you get.

It would be nice if you could retry the extract operation and post a screenshot of the message box.

Thanks!

After doing some internet research on the code that is responsible for the zip extraction I think I found the root of the problem.

I've now replaced this code with a better implementation and made a new release. As a side effect, installing WinSCP/VcXsrv is now much faster :)

Sorry for a late reply: Windows 7 SP1 x64 here, with plenty of free space...

Thanks for the swift update, will (re)test soon. 8)

EDIT: just did and everything installed alright (putty, KiTTY, WinSCP, VcXsrv, pageant, and plink). Thanks.

On a convenience side note, you might want to make the install dialog recall the last opened folder instead of always defaulting to the "Downloads" folder in the user "My Documents" location...

@Midas
Thanks for testing and for pointing out the unexpected behaviour in the install dialogs! I have found some time and changed the implementation - it should work now as expected :)

WinSSHTerm is now freemium software, which means it is free to use for anyone, but a few features are not free - I think it's fair this way...

You can get the new version here:

Again WinSSHTerm has been improved with new features and bug fixes :)

It is now possible to change the background color for each connection. This is useful, e.g. to easily identify productive environments, where you need to take special care. This screencast shows how you can set a red background color for a connection:

https://youtu.be/aooegwfGxOY

As another new feature you can now configure a custom color scheme. Plus, you can change the colors of the tabs, so that you can suite them to your custom terminal colors - which is (at least for me) very satisfying.

You can download the current version here:

Portable Edition: http://dl.winsshterm.net/WinSSHTerm-2.2.0.zip
Installer Edition: http://dl.winsshterm.net/WinSSHTerm-2.2.0.msi
Website: http://www.winsshterm.net

I see more and more people migrating to WinSSHTerm - even if they used commercial software before. I’m very proud of that and it motivates me to keep going on. WinSSHTerm had a kind of rough start (regarding donations), but these days are gone and I had only positive feedback since the license change in version 2.1.2.

Hey, just wanted to let you know there are some great news about WinSSHTerm!

There is a migration tool on GitHub
https://github.com/P-St/Migrate2WinSSHTerm

which lets you easily migrate your server configuration from other SSH tools like SuperPuTTY, MTPuTTY, MobaXterm… So if you are bored of your current SSH tool or want to try out something new - just check out this tool.

I’ve also created a public support forum on Reddit, where anybody can ask for help:
https://www.reddit.com/r/WinSSHTerm

You can download the current version here:
Portable Edition: http://dl.winsshterm.net/WinSSHTerm-2.2.9.zip
Installer Edition: http://dl.winsshterm.net/WinSSHTerm-2.2.9.msi
Website: http://www.winsshterm.net

BTW, the guys from MajorGeeks recently added WinSSHTerm to their portal :)
