Submit portable freeware that you find here. It helps if you include information like description, extraction instruction, Unicode support, whether it writes to the registry, and so on.

@NickR: thanks for the warning. In my defense, I have to say that I would never ever rely on Windows Notepad for something even remotely critical... :mrgreen:

The infamous 38KB limitation, the 640KB memory limitation (old dos time), Easter (rotten?) eggs with whatever they want to put in... Makes you ponder, wondering... I agree with MIDAS. Stay away from the official Notepad for serious work but this is MHO. Anyway choose the one that suit you... Why not one listed and tested by TPC109? Or the one proposed here, simplistic and funny in a way, why not if it answer your need.

filthyEditor version 1.5 is available (08/03/2016)
Removed the Print dialogs and menu entries as they weren't fully functional and fixed an issue where the IBM Amber theme didn't render correctly.
