NAPS2 (DotNET scanner utility)

#1 Post by Midas »

NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2) is yet another interesting scanning app found via Betanews that is allegedly portable (I haven't tested!).

http://naps2.sourceforge.net/ wrote:NAPS2 is a document scanning application with a focus on simplicity and ease of use. [...] This is a fork of the NAPS project with many bug fixes and other improvements.

Download the latest NAPS2 portable release (v3.3.4, currently) from http://sourceforge.net/projects/naps2/files/3.3.4/ -- just choose one of the filenames that include 'standalone'...

Betanews summary review is at betanews.com /2015/07/03/scan-pages-as-searchable-pdfs-with-naps2/.

NAPS2 (Not Another PDF Scanner 2)

#3 Post by nickoftime »

Here it goes... after all these years, my very first submission, found while searching for a scan package that meets my needs.

I hope I did this correctly... 8)

Easily scan with your chosen settings, or set up multiple profiles for different devices and configurations. Once you've finished scanning, you can save, email, or print with only a couple clicks. Save to PDF, TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or other file types.

Compatible with both WIA and TWAIN - Choose the driver that works best with your scanner, as well as settings like DPI, page size, and bit depth. Scan from a glass flatbed or an automatic document feeder (ADF), including duplex support.

Rotate, crop, and rearrange scanned images - Order your pages however you like, including tools to interleave duplexed pages. Easily rotate your pages at right angles, or straighten them at any angle you like. Use image editing tools to crop or change brightness and contrast.

Identify text using OCR - Search through text included in your PDFs by using optical character recognition (OCR), in any of over 60 languages.

Portable version is packaged using NSIS (I think).

I tested it and works great... Did not leave any registry entries behind and did not leave anything in APPDATA.

Please let me know what you think...
