Raw Therapee is a converter for RAW files from digital cameras. It got very favorable reviews and compares well with its - fairly expensive - commercial counterparts (Adobe C1, Bibble, etc.). Can be found here:

http://www.rawtherapee.com/

I just installed it, moved it to another drive and uninstalled it. Still works fine and writes its settings into a local "options" file. Didn't investigate, if it's stealth, but a quick look through the registry didn't show anything RT related.

This is an amazing application! Have used Bibble Pro for some time now, and Raw Therapee's sharpening algorithms appear to be far superior to Bibble's.

Although it seems not to write settings to the registry, it saves info to a .RawTherapee directory within a user's Application Data folder.

Tried JPE on it, but was unsuccessful. Nevertheless, this is a keeper, in my book - er, usb...

Thanks. You may want to check out Photivo. I will make a separate post about it later, but until then, read here how to enable portable mode.

Topic update: latest version announced at RawTherapee homepage is v4.2 (dated 2014-10-24; see http://rawtherapee.com/blog/rawtherapee-4.2-is-out); Softpedia lists v4.2.1 as the latest stable (dated 2015-10-22; see http://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/ ... 51898.html). Changes in later development builds can be inspected at http://github.com/Beep6581/RawTherapee/commits/master -- official downloads are at http://rawtherapee.com/downloads.

BTW, portabilizing info is now at the official wiki (http://rawpedia.rawtherapee.com), which ATM aims awkwardly at http://50.87.144.65/~rt/w/index.php?tit ... stallation, with the relevant Windows passage reading thus:

Let's assume that you've unzipped your archive into 'E:\RawTherapee', where 'E:\' is the drive letter of your USB flash drive. Now open the 'E:\RawTherapee\options' file, and set the MultiUser option to "false". That way, the cache directory will be located in a sub-directory of the installation path.
http://github.com/Beep6581/RawTherapee wrote:RawTherapee is a powerful, cross-platform raw photo processing program, released under the GNU General Public License Version 3 and written in C++ using a GTK+ front-end. It uses a patched version of dcraw for reading raw files[...]. It is notable for the advanced control it gives the user over the demosaicing and development process.

2. PA version is out: https://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_ ... e-portable

3. A new version is out with a fair number of changes: http://www.softpedia.com/progChangelog/ ... 51898.html
