I have been using Programmer's Notepad www.pnotepad.org for a couple of years now it is an excellent tool to edit many types of files including: scripts, html, visual basic, C, Perl, Java, Python.
One of the main benefits of this program is the color highlighting for keywords just like in most full featured programming software.

I always wished it was portable. I recentyl used the install, copy folder, uninstall method found on the sword project and found it to be portable.

The older version Programmer's Notepad version 1 supports Hex editing.
There is a newer version Programmers Notepad version 2 that does not yet support Hex editing.

My editor of choice, I have it in my Usb drive. A shame that only has Microsoft Windows Installer packages in the website.

UPDATE: I just downloaded and placed their portable version on my external drive. It works great.

Is there a reason this application is not in the Portable Freeware collection?

Cool. Thanks for the portablefreeware bump in the screenshot.

Although originally posted in 2007, the program is still under active development, as evidenced by the site blog.

Looks good. The projects concept sounds very useful.

I've been using AkelPad, but it's hard to manage projects with it.
Will give PN a test drive in the next few days and report back.

I just gave this a try and the auto complete doesn't seem to work for PHP or is non-existant. I'm sure this program is perfect for some but I think I will stick with PSPad.

There are great apps that, once suggested in the submission forum, have been forgotten... :(

For autocomplete problems, the developer recommend to try the 2.3 RC: http://untidy.net/blog/2011/04/25/progr ... -released/

Agreed -- but on the upside, a lot of programs that would have become abandonware have found a home here.
