EchoSync (DotNET differential backup)

It's a tiny program (700kb) described as portable, but dependent on DotNET v4.0 so I'm posting it to "Freeware ... Not Portable". It can output to VHD (Virtual Hard Drive) files and detects changes by scanning NTFS MFT, so it can be really fast as it detects and updates path changes, for example, avoiding copying identical files more than once.

EchoSync has both English or French interfaces, but its site is in French; here's my translation of the relevant blurb...

Download EchoSync current version (click 'Telecharger') at http://www.luminescence-software.org/echosync/.

Does seem pretty cool. Nice to see more programs integrating the whole NTFS MFT that Everything uses to make changes quickly.

Topic update: EchoSync still around, now at v5.0 (DotNET v4.5 required; no changelog).

Update here: program is at 6.0.0.2 and is listing portability on the download page:

http://www.luminescence-software.org/en ... c/download

Update notes:

No details on the x.x.2 changes, but for the 6.x update:
... new features of this major version are essentially technical, linked to the use of the .NET 5.0 framework, now embedded in the software itself (it is no longer necessary to install it on the machine beforehand). Echosync is now a 64 bits software. Gains in performance and reliability are expected.
Status: Untested, adding it to a list of programs I hope to test soon.

Status: portable, writes to the Profiles directory not stealth (lots of dotnet library edits)

Resource usage: 200 megs disk space, 115 RAM

Requires: .NET Framework 4.7.2 or higher

Performance: Sync ran slowly for a single, below 1kb file (about 10 seconds). May have been connecting with that Master Tables component mentioned earlier in the thread, I'm not sure.
