TEncoder - audio/video conversion [discontinued]

[Moderator note: this is the primary TEncoder thread. View database entry]

----

http://sourceforge.net/projects/tencoder/

Writes settings in AppData.

Version tested: 1.4 nosetup.

Note: JauntePE works fine with this one, and I like this application very much, especially the fact that I can choose between MEncoder and FFMpeg. However, it is not as fast as FreemakeVideoConverter. But, yet again, no other app is as fast as FreemakeVC. :)

Edit: the app has a portable version now.

TEncoder saves its settings to the app folder now.
A strong candidate to the database.
TEncoder is a multithreaded video and audio converter that uses MEncoder, MPlayer and FFMpeg. It can convert almost every video and audio type to each other. Subtitles with same name as video can be hard-coded into video. Up to 8 simultaneous encoders can be run so encoding time decreases. You can select between multiple audio and subtitle tracks. Extracting video or audio content is possible. Edit subtitle and audio delays and part of video that will be encoded. Effects like deinterlacing can be applied to videos.

Features
Supports almost all video formats
Multithreading enables you to use all cores of your CPU
Subtitles can be hard-coded into video
Output video codecs are: Mpeg1, Mpeg2, Xvid, Mpeg4, H264, FLV, WMV, VP8
Output audio codecs are: MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG Vorbis, AC3, Mp2
Choose between FFMpeg and Mencoder as encoder
Select between different audio and subtitle tracks for each file
Skin support
Do two passes to improve quality
Pass custom commands to encoders
Preview files before encoding

Creates a folder 'TEncoder' in 'MY Documents' and a cache file in %localappdata%\MPlayer\32digit-alpha-numeric-string-le32d8.cache-3

The cache file was more than likely from previewing the video.

Although I changed the save-to folder from MY Documents\TEncoder > Temp\Video it defaulted back on second run.

Good news. Moved to Submission thread.

So not stealth? Or is that a portability issue?

I tried it out on a couple of video files and liked what I saw. It was neither too dumbed down nor too complicated. Just the right mix of settings for my needs.
Although I changed the save-to folder from MY Documents\TEncoder > Temp\Video it defaulted back on second run.
I couldn't reproduce this problem. All the settings I tried moved fine from a Win7 VM to a WinXP VM. Not just the path, but also checkboxes like "Same as source" etc.

Thanks for adding TEncoder, Mr. Lee.
A very interesting program in a category that needed more options.
I just want to point out that the application was suggested by joby_toss, and I've changed the entry to reflect that.

Hi, ozok!
Welcome and thanks to you for your presence here in the TPFC forums.
And many thanks for TEncoder (also for OpenMusicPlayer and TX264)! We really appreciate your work.

I like this program a lot. Just the right balance of features. They give you control over what you want without becoming too in-depth. Much prefer this over Xmedia Recoder.

Thanks for posting.

Hello,

A user send me a mail stating that portable version 7z file asked password when he/she tried to extract it with IZarc. Did anyone else had that problem?

Can't confirm this. Tested IZArc 4.1.7 and TEncoder(2.3.2687)(portable) - MD5: df2605c59fc0ac0252c6ed0ab39b431c .
He/She must check to see if the package was downloaded from you, the author. If not, redownload it.

@joby_toss same here, I could not reproduce the problem. I sent a reply to user but i got no reply yet. I'm assuming, as you said, file was downloaded from an other source.
