HippoEDIT (text editor)

#1 Post by Midas »

HippoEDIT (http://www.hippoedit.com/) is yet another payware text editor with a 64 bit version, so I won't dwell much on it other than to mention portability conditions...

Although the available installer package can be (Uni)extracted, the downside of this is leaving some garbage folder/files strewn about the spawned filesystem; a better option is simply to use the installer itself to create the portable (see second screenshot below).

To detail the workings of the portable, two options are mentioned in HippoEDIT's wiki (see http://wiki.hippoedit.com/options/general/portable):
  • by running HippoEdit with the "--portable" command line parameter;
  • having a 'hippoedit.config' in the program folder with the following content.
  • Code: Select all

    <General>
        <Portable>true</Portable>
    </General>

It has modern and lightweight user interface, which supports different interface schemes, multi-tab environment, seamless web and help browser, file explorer and project explorer, external tools integration and more smart text editor functions.
