Hi,

I am new in this forums and am a biig fan of portablefreeware because i have found so many cool stuffs here. But I realised that there is no mention about XYplorer file manager. I use this since more than a year now and i am extremely happy to have found it.

I list some interesting features in XYplorer:

> A tabbed manager, you can move, lock, set home, color them.
> Amazingly fast searches, uses regexp, boolean, fuzzy etc. Not enough place here to list them all. Personally, i have never seen such powerful search options anywhere.
> The revolutionary Mouse down blowups of images, just click and hold any image and boom!! you see it fill up your screen. Truly magical tool to quickly view your fav photos. or for presentations.
> Preview almost any kind of file before you open it. Eg. Play songs, watch movies, read docs, pdfs, browse web in the preview panel.
> Mp3 tagging, batch rename, and special renaming. Sits pretty on the right-click menu.
> Use Catalog to add your favorite files and folders. Its like quick dial in your phone, sits pretty on bottom left and you can rename them easily and hide it if it bothers you.
> Color the tree, list, catalog and files for easy viewing and navigation. My XY is so colorful, I can recognise my drives, folders, files from outside my window.
> It has similar shortcuts like in opera or mozilla browser. Dont have to learn anything new.
> Choose from your favorite fonts for the interface, dialogue etc.
> Edit the configuration file to your liking.
These are just a few to name.
Importantly, its light-weight manager which uses very low system resources. Also, its VISTA compatible. and FINALLY, dont miss the forums.

I have always used this and would like to know from you guys how other file managers compare.

I think most of the people on this forum are interested in Freeware or open source software, so payware tends to be ignored. That is probably why XYplorer has not be mentioned before.

But I realised that there is no mention about XYplorer file manager.
Really? Did you try to search the database, first? http://www.portablefreeware.com/?id=579

Thanks for the replies.
@usdcs: Yes you are right. But what i meant is, there is no mention about XYplorer in the payware discussion (Since it isnt freeware anymore). And the link you gave is too old and many things are not true anymore. Like:

1. It doesnt depend on GDI+ DLL anymore.
2. No features are disabled until 30 days of free trial.
3. How to extract: Zip it and use it. (no more installing and copying and uninstalling thing)
4. Unicode support is there now.
5. Supports Vista too.

So, either the link has to be updated or removed since it isnt freeware.

The latest beta version is 5.60.0015 (today) with lots of new features and with more than 100 betas since V4.50.

I see where you're coming from. I don't know how Andrew has configured things, as to whether a program can be listed in two categories. But, it seems that he made the decision to host the last Freeware version, as he wrote:
Note: Unfortunately, XYPlorer turns payware on 21 Mar 2006. The download link points to the last freeware version
As darkbee said, the site's focus is on Freeware. We'll see if Andrew decides to relist XPlorer.

Regards,
Dan

The current entry points to the last freeware version (direct download).

I have no intention of removing it yet, since some folks might want to download the last freeware version for some reason.

But I definitely won't be updating the version number, since there is no free version after that.
