List of CLI Tool Collections and Multi-function Tools (1ry Sources)

#1 Post by vevy »

These are primary (meaning first party, not lists curated by others) sites/projects that provide multiple tools or multiple functions in one tool:

Collections that provide Unix tool ports to Windows users:
----------------------------------------------

Multiple tools form one developer/group (if you liked a tool, you may like its sisters :D):
Some specialized tool groups:
CompressMe.net (Ilya Muravyov) (Compression Software. See Encode's Forum for more)

----------------------------------------------

A single tool with many functions:

Thanks a billon :P
Added, except for RareWares since it lists 3rd party tools (so added to the other topic). Added https://opensourcepack.blogspot.com/ to both topics

I see Cygwin and Busybox as well as several other "collections" but don't see MobaXTerm listed --> https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1952

The developer has been quite active on the site and deserves to have his project listed as well. Sorry if it was listed on one of the threads and I missed it.

Well, it has a GUI! But it is relevant enough that I will add it to the list. Thanks.

You might want to check again, my dear Ding-A-Ling -- viewtopic.php?t=4288.

Topic update: uutils v0.0.6 released (changelog and downloads at https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/releases).

uutils is an attempt at writing universal (as in cross-platform) CLI utilities in Rust. This repository is intended to aggregate GNU coreutils rewrites.

Please note that while some regular *nix shell commands aren't fully implemented, uutils doesn't include (yet) the following at all: chcon, dd, numfmt, pr, runcon, stty.

I'm glad this topic came up again so I could repeat my praise for SFK. That program just never stops coming in handy.

uutils v0.23 released 2023-11-14 (changes and downloads at https://github.com/uutils/coreutils/releases).

Homepage of the uutils project is now at https://uutils.github.io/:
The uutils project reimplements ubiquitous command line utilities in Rust. Our goal is to modernize the utils, while retaining full compatibility with the existing utilities.
