Portable console emulator for Windows
http://gooseberrycreative.com/cmder/

Seems portable (not stealth, clink.log in \user\current\AppData\Local\clink) but I had some issues testing it sandboxed.

Cmder is just a packaged version of msysgit and ConEmu with a prebundled color scheme.

If you want better control, install msysgit Portable and ConEmu separately.
is it stealth? ;)

Still cool someone is developing it in this day and age, IMHO. 8)

Baas post reminded me that I once briefly tested Clink (looks abandoned, the only remaining address is http://sourceforge.net/projects/clink.mirror/) only to drop it because I couldn't make it portable...

Any guidance would be very welcome.

It has moved to https://github.com/mridgers/clink - website here http://mridgers.github.io/clink/ - last update at GH two days ago :-)

Cool! Thanks for that, Lintalist. 8)

I'll have to re-test that portable version shortly...

I'll just post a quick status update for Cmder, since on first impact it might feel daunting for a newcomer (like myself :))...

Cmder automatically detects and abides system bitness and comes in two versions, both free: mini, which is roughly 4MB big, and full, weighing a hefty 200MB+ after unpacking. The latest releases can be downloaded from the homepage.

IMHO, Cmder is a highly convenient turnkey portable and integrated console environment, only let down by the way its documentation is scattered about various sites (see next post about that).

My original plan was to post this table with information sources for Cmder and included utilities as part of the previous post but, for formatting reasons (I just can't seem to get rid of all the white space at the top), I decided to make it an extra post... :?

I use all of them except cmdr, which doesn't seem to work on XP. Clink is very quick and snappy. I also use Pycmd, although it's a little slower than Clink and hasn't been updated for awhile. Pycmd homepage: https://sourceforge.net/projects/pycmd/

Cmder works perfectly under Windows 7 x64 SP1 -- for convenience I have it integrated with the context menu ("cmder.exe /REGISTER ALL")...

Instructions for Sublime Text integration are also available from github.com /cmderdev/cmder/wiki/Seamless-Sublime-Text-3-Integration.

As I mentioned five years ago, Cmder is just ConEmu and msysgit bundled together.

If you don't need git support, just get ConEmu.

I didn't see that -- I've moved my post to the ConEmu thread. I don't need git.

Should we rename the thread "Cmder - packaged ConEmu and msysgit"?

I don't think it's necessary to rename the thread.

ConEmu clearly states it is based off of ConEmu on their Github repository page: https://github.com/cmderdev/cmder/blob/master/README.md

One thing I just found out is you can download Cmder without git from their Github releases page:
https://github.com/cmderdev/cmder/releases

Download cmder_mini.zip instead of the full zip or 7z file.

webfork, you could just use their mini version if you like the prebundled look and feel of Cmder.
