This is good because if you look at the home page, its very obviously liteware intended to sell a pro software. So good news. Hopefully the author can continue development or leverage a community towards an updated version.

Has not been tested for portability yet, but probably is since the code appears cut-and-pasted (version # is the same).

Test results

Program is portable, and looks almost exactly the same as Jelly Bean Keyfinder. Its definitely not stealth as changing the font in settings creates a regkey "HKCU\Software\Magical Jelly Bean Software\Keyfinder". I'm guessing this is the case with the regular version.

This version doesn't seem to have anything other than a few links in the help menu (as far as I can tell) to the SF.NET project, so the main reason to embrace the name change is in the hope that the program will see some activity or improvement (its been dormant quite a while).

Program author posted something under the entry about getting a DMCA-takedown notice.

An open source project I currently develop is under attack with a DMCA violation. It is a baseless accusation because I'm still within my rights of the GNU GPL. Help me get the word out and post comments anywhere and everywhere.

I tried to contact him through sourceforge but I've never had much luck using that site for communication.

In the event that he checks back with PFWC: talking to the Free Software Foundation (http://www.fsf.org) who came up with that license would be your first step.

So a few things on this one:

1. The current SourceForge page is listing the program as malware. This is the SourceForge page reporting this -- not some other source. I'm unclear whether this is some component that is suspicious or what. If it was really malware, you would think they'd just take the project offline. Very weird.

2. The program moved to https://github.com/samrocketman/ekeyfinder but it's still discontinued.

3. A former member tested the liteware version (not the open source version we're currently linking to) at https://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder/ . If you run Uniextract, it writes to settings to a local keyfinder.ini as well as HKCU\Software\Magical Jelly Bean Software. I'm not surprised as that program doesn't pretend to be portable (the USB version is listed under the pro version).
