Koodo Reader - eBook viewer

#1 Post by webfork »

A very nice ebook reader program with wide format support, including EPUB, PDF, DJVU, Kindle Mobipocket, text, FictionBook, Comic book archive, Rich text, and Hyper Text (.html, .xml).

License: Open source (AGPL-3.0)

Portable version: https://koodo.960960.xyz/en/download

Steps: Download and launch Koodo-Reader-[version]-Portable.exe

Status: Not portable, writes to AppData. More of a "no-install" version rather than a portable one. Changing "storage location" didn't modify this. Tested version 1.2.9.

Looks great though ...

Resources (megs): Disk: 50 megs, 200+ RAM across several processes (looks to be Electron-based).

Update: with v.1.3.9 ... changelog: https://koodo.960960.xyz/en/log

Certainly has some issues, but the clear display and easy configuration makes it my favorite eBook viewer so far.

Wishlist:

* Ability to Just drag-and-drop files into the viewer, as right now they have to get "Imported"
* Modify view settings (like margins and font sizes) without closing and re-opening an ebook
* Some kind of visible difference between highlighted elements and notes

Bugs:

* If you apply a note to one piece of highlighting on a page, it applies it to all elements
* Changing the background and text color ignores headings, which are showing up for me as Dark Blue
* Deleting highlighted text in the left pane doesn't delete the text

Status: Not portable. Same issue as before (writes to AppData)

So no new release out yet but there is a "developer version" / beta is out with some interesting changes, including a few of my favorite things from the iOS-based Readdle PDF reader.
Add more TTS voice options from Azure
Auto highlight search result in the book
Auto highlight tts text in the book

Great to see.
