FTP Rush 2.1.1 Final (Freeware)

#1 Post by luke »

With the wide use of FTP, we also get to know a large number of FTP client such as CuteFTP, FlashFXP and FileZilla. They are well-designed and prove very helpful. Apart from these, today we'd like to recommend the "fatest and most powerful" free FTP client - FTP Rush. FTP Rush is not new. It has been in the market for over 7 years and is still deeply loved by many users for the quick speed, reliability and easy handling. It has extremely strong power and can maintain a most stable yet fast connection to the FTP server. It supports five-thread(or more) synchronous transfer and connection to multiple labels, which in other words means that users can connect to different FTP sites at the same time. It also allows users to fully customize the user interface on-the-fly and to create their own scripts to do automatic jobs.

The most important change about the newly released FTP Rush 2.1 is that, FTP Rush will forever be free. This is big good news for users, for now we definitely will have more choices in the selection of free FTP tools. After a brief try of the latest version of FTP Rush, we commented it as "very impressive". The multiplethread uploading and downloading is terrific while the speed maintains fast and steady. Not only that, the function of simultaneous connection to mutiple sites and the multiplethread transfer together greatly enhances the efficiency of our operation. All this makes the use of FTP transfer handy and comfortable.

If you are looking for some well-performing and easy-to-use free FTP client, then FTP Rush 2.1 is our top recommendation! And if you are currently using other FTP clients, it is also wise to take a try of FTP Rush. You won't regret it.

BTW, portable version is available now with v2.1.1.

FTP Rush
Welcome to FTP Rush, a Free FTP/FXP/SFTP/TFTP client

FTP Rush is the most powerful and free FTP/FXP/SFTP/TFTP client sofware for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista/Win7. It is designed to fit any transfer need, it allows you to quickly upload or download files in all directions: from FTP Server to local, local to FTP Server or FTP Server to FTP Server. The client supports secure transfer including SSH and TFTP and it is really easy-to-use, Also FTP Rush takes into account all peculiarities of internet file transfer and management by presenting a great choice of features, creating comfortable working experience.

Skilled users and IT specialists can take advantage of the built-in Script Designer and Command Designer. A few lines of code will help you teach the FTP Rush to execute lots of routine work automatically. This feature allows you to reach spectacular efficiency in no time. Another advantage is the support of synchronize folders, so the client can look after the identity of folders and contained files in upload and download directory. Identification of files that have been modified, added or deleted since the last update will no longer be a problem.
What I can tell:
  • Very fast (way faster than FileZilla on what I've tested)
  • Folder Sync (Useful if you have to sync ftp repository with local repository of many files & folders)

I do like that. Filezilla only supports some basic automation, I guess thinking that existing command-line stuff is more adapted for that.

A Download.com user says it doesn't remember sites -- just has quickconnect tool. Is that accurate?

It's about quite an old version.
At that time it wasn't portable, and I think it was still shareware.
Now it has bookmarks, which do save the complete URL on both left and right sides.
That's one of the features I'm using.
The other is "Compare folder contents".
This allows to synchronize folders by downloading/uploading only new and changed files.
And it is quite fast - 5 to 10 times than FileZilla on what servers I have used.

I noticed that too, but after posting the topic.

@Moderators
Please merge this thread with that one- http://www.portablefreeware.com/forums/ ... f=4&t=6963.

FTP Rush hasn't been updated for about four years but it is an excellent FTP client- powerful, flexible and rich in features, it is still my favourite and I prefer it to FileZilla and WinSCP, what I miss is WebDAV support but this is a uncommon feature for a FTP client.

Thanks. I think that FTP Rush deserves to be included in the database- it is better than most of the FTP clients which are already there (FTP Rush is on a par with FileZilla and WinSCP but I prefer it to both- its major problems are that it is not open source and that it hasn't been updated for quite some time).

There may be a security issue as it's a very old version of SSL ( SigCheckGUI says it's 0.9.8 ). It's not vulnerable to heartbleed (evidently 1.0.1 and 1.0.1f) but it's likely to be vulnerable to other exploits.

It's possible you might just update the ssleay32.dll file but I don't know. That might break the program.

FTP Rush - file transfer client

#13 Post by webfork »

Although it's named for FTP, this program works with a variety of cloud storage services. Would bring it into the same category as CyberDuck, which is not (and probably will never be) portable.
Synopsis wrote:FTP Rush is a free file transfer software for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. And it is not only an FTP/SFTP client but also a cloud storage client (support Google Drive, DropBox, OneDrive, and Amazon S3). With its tabbed Explorer-like interface, you can create multiple tabbed windows for different connections and easily download or upload files via Drag & Drop. It uses the local computer as a bridge to realize the file transfer function between servers of different protocols. That means files can be transferred between any protocols, such as transferring files from OneDrive to DropBox. It also supports the C# scripting language and provides a large number of practical interface functions and detailed documentation. You can use the scripting language to complete any custom tasks you want.
Google Drive note - While I very pleased with how it functioned in GDrive, to be clear GDocs files are NOT download unless you convert them to another format inside the web interface, or use some kind of separate conversion program (e.g. SyncDocs). While I strongly dislike this "feature," it's nothing to do with FTP Rush -- it's Google's effort to remain "sticky" in organizations.

It is portable if you create a 'ftprush.ini' file in the FTP Rush folder. At least it seems that way. Everything is written to the application folder.

It's much better now than it used to be, so good to see development has continued.
