Deep Diff - text file and directory comparison

#1 Post by webfork »

Short Version: Unless you need small size and light resource usage, go with WinMerge: https://www.portablefreeware.com/index.php?id=1259

Background: Due to my ongoing search for good diff tools where ever they might live, I looked at an interesting diff tool from a few years back that I likely won't use again.

Testing notes:

Not much here versus other options. No report function to save the results and once you close the window, it forgets what files you were working with. I did like the available "composite file" view (see screenshot). It still does side-by-side, but there are few controls on what to look for or what NOT to look for (e.g. extra whitespace, capitalization, etc.).

Steps: Uniextract, launch from the app folder

Status: Not portable, writes to registry.
