Heimer (freeware mindmapping)

#1 Post by Midas »

Didn't test Heimer (https://github.com/juzzlin/Heimer) but it's unlikely to be natively portable since it's Qt-based (expect the usual junk in registry); thus posting directly to "Not Portable".

On the upside, it's multi-platform (Linux and windows) FLOSS under active development.

Heimer is a desktop application for creating mind maps and other suitable diagrams. It's written in Qt and targeted for Linux and Windows.

Here's the official introductio video:

Heimer latest Windows release (currently v1.16.0; dated 2020-04-17) can be downloaded from https://github.com/juzzlin/Heimer/releases.

I really like setting the grid side really high (around 30), which makes for a really friendly flowchart maker. I wish there was some documentation, especially around hotkeys.

Wishlist:

* Support images
* Export to other formats beyond PNG

Status: Not portable, writes to \AppData\Roaming\Heimer

Update: after a bit of a hiatus in 2021, it appears to be back in development with v2.6.0 out just a few hours ago (as of this post): https://github.com/juzzlin/Heimer/releases
