Does appear to search but the preview function is a little vague (words often appear in groups of jibberish).

Supports regular expressions search, loads of filters, and a sharp interface. Search operators are a little less involved than some other search tools I've used (notably DocFetcher).

Still a great program.

Nice program. Very reasonable limitations to the free version. Except for one: only for personal use (as opposed to FileLocator).

Ran some more recent tests on this one and had some aditional usage notes:

Liteware

Multiple tabs, exporting results, and search profiles are limited to the pro version. However, I didn't really miss the results export as you can copy results to the clipboard in the free version, which worked fine.

Regex with PDF

While I had mixed results with PDF files, there aren't many PDF tools out there that use Regex so this might be worth the trouble. Issues seemed to include occasionally pulling out random elements from the file formatting code (e.g. << /Length 206 0 R /Length1 11448 /Filter /FlateDecode >> whatever that means).

MS Office file support

Something I missed the first time around: this program will do regex searches of MS Office files. However, you have to select "process file contents using File Handlers (slower)" under the "Advanced" tab

As noted above for PDF, there is some regex support, so you could introduce regular expressions into the MS Office format.

Crash issue with LibreOffice files

The program consistently crashed when searching ODT files with the preview window open. I do roughly 80% of my work in ODT files so this was a major issue.

An update to v6.7 came out about 4 months ago -- didn't see anything in the changelog about OpenDocument issue I mentioned, but there is mention of a Regex fix: https://www.fileseek.ca/ChangeLog/
